During Phase II of the GEOTHERM Programme the focus of activities is in countries adjacent to the East African Rift Valley. In the cause of the programme the following countries / projects have been supported.
| ARGeo: Support of the African Rift Geothermal Facility (ARGeo) and ARGeo conferences Chile: Capacity building and geothermal development Code of Practice: Handbook "African Union Code of Practice for Geothermal Drilling" Djibouti: Support of institutional setup of the Geothermal entity ODDEG by a consultant, long term planning; organisation and funding of hands-on- training of Djibouti Drilling Engineers in Kenia Eritrea: Eritrean scientists have been trained in Iceland's United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) Ethiopia: Geophysical investigations at Tendaho and and Fentale and Dofan Prospect support of the 1st and 6th African Geothermal Conference Kenya: Training course in GIS and thermal camera survey, InSAR structural analysis and dating of Paka volcano products; monitoring of seismological stations RGCU: Support of Regional Geothermal Coordination Unit within African Union Commission Rwanda: Technical support in geoscientific investigations and training Tanzania: Geothermal exploration in Songwe, training and awareness-raising of decision makers and Pre-Feasibility in Mbeya/Ngozi Uganda: Technical support in geoscientific investigations at Buranga geothermal prospect Vietnam: Survey on socio-economic framework conditions for geothermal energy Yemen: Geoscientific investigations and support of the GEF-Medium-Sized-Project on geothermal development
