The groundwater resources of Germany, classified according to the Standard Legend for Hydrogeological Maps (SLHyM). Some 40 % of Germany has porous aquifers, partly with high yields. About 21 % is made of fractured and karst aquifers. Approximately 39 % of the country is built up by porous or fissured aquitards, which have only local and limited or no significant groundwater potential
