The Sunda-Banda Arc represents the southern boundary of the Indonesian Archipelago. At the eastern Sunda Arc, south of Java, Bali, Lombok, and Sumbawa, the Indo-Australian Plate subducts under the Eurasian Plate, while a collision between the Australian Plate and the Eurasian Plate occurs at the Banda Arc. In the framework of the research project SINDBAD (Seismic and Geoacoustic Investigations along the Sunda-Banda Arc Transition) we investigate the effects of along-arc variations in the subducting plate (e. g. Roo Rise, Argo Abyssal Plain) on the evolution of the overriding plate. This work also includes an initial assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of the Lombok Basin.
