Marine Reflection Seismics
The marine reflection seismic surveys are carried out with an extensive equipment, which will be controlled and steered from board of the research vessel. It can be categorized into three main groups:
1.Seismic source and control unit
|
2. Seismic cable and acquisition unit

3. Navigation and steering unit
Transponder system (left) for the precise localization of the streamer and depth controller, so-called “bird” (right hand side, orange device). The green unit is a recovery unit that prevents a sinking of the streamer deeper than 50 meters. |
Fig. 9: Navigation system Spectra: For the 3D seismic data acquisition, we need a precise knowledge of the position of the streamers and sources at all times. We also control the track of the research vessel by means of the navigation system
